Sam York
Professional Counselor Associate
Hi there, I’m Sam! I am a professional counselor associate working towards full licensure. I have called Oregon home for 5 years and have lived in every state along the west coast. My interests include playing D&D with my friends, playing video games, reading fantasy books, and hanging out with my cats and my partner.
Sam's Approach
Because each client is different, I take an eclectic approach to counseling. The modalities I primarily utilize include: cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, child-centered play based therapy, expressive arts therapy, and family systems therapy. I am also trained in the therapeutic use of tabletop roleplaying games.
My role as a counselor is to meet you where you are, collaborate with you, and be someone you can trust. During a session, I believe there is only one expert of your life in the room- and that expert is you!
