Heather Molina Berlant
Intern
Hello, I’m Heather! I’ve been a hairstylist for the past decade and am currently working toward my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Oregon State University. I find my work as a stylist relevant to share here because it’s deeply personal and relational work, much like counseling! Attuning to a client’s needs, creating a safe space for self-expression, and building trust are at the heart of what I’ve always done professionally and will continue to do on this new career path. Through my own therapeutic experiences as a client, I’ve had profound personal growth. This is part of what draws me to this very important work.
I grew up on the East Coast and now call Oregon home. I’m a partner, a parent, a sister and an advocate. I’m a creative individual to my core and I express this through my own personal style, various crafting projects and in my outlook on life. I look forward to bringing my skillset and creativity to our collaborative work together!
heather's Approach
As your counselor, I will walk alongside you as we navigate life’s challenges and triumphs. I approach this work with curiosity, humility, and deep respect for your lived experience.
My approach is grounded in Person-Centered and Relational-Cultural Therapy. I aim to create a space where you feel accepted and supported, while also recognizing that our experiences are shaped not just individually, but through our relationships and within larger systems like culture, identity, and societal expectations.
I also integrate elements of Gestalt, Narrative, and Existential approaches. In sessions, this might look like slowing down to notice what you’re feeling in the present moment (Gestalt), exploring the stories you tell yourself about who you are and discovering new ways of understanding yourself that feel more supportive (Narrative), or making meaning of life’s bigger questions around purpose, identity, and change (Existential).
Together, we can shape our work in a way that feels supportive, collaborative, and aligned with what matters most to you.
More About Heather Molina Berlant
Experience
Before entering the counseling field, I spent over a decade working as a hairstylist, where connection, trust, and relationship-building were at the core of my work. In many ways, this experience naturally led me to counseling. I learned to listen closely, attune to both what is said and unsaid, and respond with empathy and care. I’ve supported people through meaningful life changes while honoring their unique life experiences and resilience.
I’ve worked with a wide range of individuals with varying identities, and am committed to creating an inclusive, affirming space where you can show up just as you are.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Temple University in Philadelphia and am currently completing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Oregon State University in a CACREP-accredited program.
