My counseling philosophy is best described as Humanistic. I am also influenced by Child Centered Play therapy, Adlerian therapy, Expressive Arts therapy, and Narrative therapy. These therapies focus on children and their unique worldviews they utilize to help understand, grow, and heal. I help children and families to achieve their goals by creating an environment where children feel safe to feel, understand, and build their skills. I do this by offering my clients unconditional positive regard, empathy, congruence, and a variety of evidence-based practices.

Chyenne's Approach

I work collaboratively with families as they navigate the challenges of parenthood. In addition to providing a humanistic environment for children, I also offer parents psychoeducation on topics related to their journeys. Topics include child development, attachment theories, parenting styles, changing families, trauma informed practices, and school mental health services.

Experience

After graduation I worked as an early childhood therapist in community mental health. I also have experience working as a school counselor in elementary, middle school, and high school.

Education

I earned a Master of Education in Counseling-School Counseling from Northern Arizona University in 2023. This degree offers me a dual background in clinical mental health counseling and school counseling. Major areas of coursework completed during my Master’s program included child counseling, play therapy, family therapy, cultural competence, and understanding mental health services and processes families encounter in the school system. In addition to being registered as a professional counselor associate, I also hold school counseling certificates in Oregon and Arizona.
