Acacia Schubert
Professional Counselor Associate
Welcome! I’m Acacia, a Professional Counselor Associate with specialized training in trauma-informed care. I strive to create a compassionate, inclusive, and affirming therapeutic environment where clients of all identities and backgrounds feel safe, respected, and supported in showing up authentically as themselves. As an LGBTQIA+ affirming counselor, I value emotional safety, collaboration, and genuine human connection within the counseling relationship.
Outside of my professional work, I am a wife, mother of two, and devoted pet owner. I enjoy creating art, writing, listening to music, and exploring the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. These experiences continue to shape my perspective and reinforce my belief that healing is a holistic process. I believe lasting growth is nurtured through authenticity, self-compassion, and meaningful connection.
Acacia's Approach
To support each client’s individual goals and needs, I integrate a variety of evidence-based and experiential modalities, including mindfulness practices, somatic approaches, Brainspotting, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Neuropsychotherapy, and attachment-based frameworks. I tailor the counseling experience to align with each client’s preferences, strengths, and therapeutic goals.
As part of my ongoing professional development, I will begin a Post-Master’s Certificate Program in Expressive Arts Therapy in Fall 2026, expanding my training in trauma-informed, creative, and mind-body approaches to healing.
More About Acacia Schubert
Experience
My professional experience includes clinical counseling as well as extensive work within social services and community mental health settings. During my clinical internship at a dual-diagnosis intensive outpatient program, I provided trauma-informed counseling to individuals navigating co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns, supporting clients as they worked toward healing, recovery, and personal growth.
In addition to my clinical training, I have worked in developmental disability services, substance use treatment, residential care, parenting education and support, and outreach programs serving at-risk youth and families. These diverse experiences have broadened my understanding of the complex factors that influence mental health, including trauma, family systems, social environments, and systemic barriers to care. They have also strengthened my commitment to providing compassionate, holistic, and culturally responsive support that honors each person’s unique experiences and strengths.
Education
I earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Trauma Response Services from George Fox University. My graduate training emphasized trauma-informed care, counseling theory, diagnosis and treatment, multicultural counseling, crisis intervention, and relational approaches to healing.I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Family and Human Services from University of Oregon, where I developed a strong foundation in human development, family systems, advocacy, and community-based support services. Together, these educational experiences have shaped my commitment to providing compassionate, culturally responsive, and evidence-informed care that honors the unique needs and strengths of each individual.
