Hailey Atchison

LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor

My name is Hailey Atchison and I’m excited about the possibility of working together in therapy! When I’m not in the therapy room, I love getting outside and kayaking, riding my bike, and picking blueberries. I also love snuggling my daughter and spending time with my husband and my family. I am a person of faith, which informs my belief in caring for those in need, advocating for the marginalized and oppressed, and treating all people with dignity, kindness, and respect. I am honored to work with clients of all belief systems and walks of life, whether similar or different than mine.

Hailey's Approach

I take an honest and non-judgemental approach to therapy, where I acknowledge that I’m a real, ever-growing, imperfect human who gets to come alongside my clients as a teammate and a resource in the journey toward healing. I also emphasize the importance of earning the trust of my clients in session through authentic relationship, as I believe this creates the safety that clients need to begin the therapeutic work. In my work with clients, I really enjoy using a Strengths-Based Therapy approach to help clients identify the resources, supports, and capabilities that they already have access to, and then we can continue building upon that foundation together. I like to celebrate what’s going well in the lives of my clients, and to help clients believe in themselves and their ability to evoke change in their lives. I also utilize an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy approach to invite clients to explore and gain clarity on their personal values, and to then empower clients to determine how they would like to live out their values in all aspects of their lives. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to gently challenge unhelpful thinking patterns by bringing new perspectives into session to help clients develop a more flexible and self-compassionate way of thinking.

More About Hailey Atchison

Experience
I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Community Health from Western Oregon University, which helped me to view mental and physical health through a compassionate and holistic lens. I believe that each person holds the right to define what health and wellbeing means to them, and I understand that this can look different for each person, based upon their values, resources, access, level of privilege, and culture. I then earned my Master’s of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Bushnell University, which deepened my admiration for the resilience of humans and furthered my passion for providing support and care to all people.
