My name is Laura Willcoxen and I have lived in the Willamette Valley since I was a little girl and I love how beautiful it is here. I enjoy spending time with my family, have 3 very spoiled cats, and love to sing as part of my choir and worship team at my church. My faith is important to me and I am interested in learning what is important to you.
Laura's Approach
I have a person centered, holistic approach and I see counseling as a collaborative process where I get the privileged of supporting you in your journey. I strive to provide a safe place to explore who you are and I believe learning and utilizing skills is a very important part of wellness. I have training in DBT, CBT, Mindfulness and Self-Compassion and I am always seeking new skills to share with my clients. I would love to get to know you and support you in reaching your goals.
More About Laura Willcoxen
Experience
I have been working in the mental health field as a instructional assistant in behavioral classrooms, as a skills trainer and mentor since 2004 until I decided to complete my education and became a mental health therapist in 2014. I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2016 and have spent the majority of my career in community mental health serving people exiting incarceration, hospitalization, or experiencing crisis. My work allowed me to be able to serve people in my community, who may not have previously had access or sought care if not due to extenuating circumstances. I also have experience working with families, couples, and individuals with trauma, depression/anxiety, co-occurring disorders, relationship issues, and navigating major life changes and events. I have specific training in DBT, CBT, and in crisis interventions but pull from multiple modalities to create an individualized treatment plan in partnership with my clients including mindfulness, self-compassion, and motivational interviewing.
